This position will be based in the Washougal Washington office but will be responsible for managing the company’s equipment holdings nationally.
The CONTROLLER will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Summary: This position manages all accounting functions of the company, ensuring that all financial services, reports and statements are meaningful, reliable, and timely. Using effective communication and collaboration, this position provides leadership and coaching to the accounting staff. Also, responsible for managing regulatory and union compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filing of reports and tax returns in all jurisdictions. Manages and performs all treasury functions, ensuring timely and adequate funding of all approved disbursements. The technical and administrative objectives of this position must be performed within the framework of established corporate policy and applicable professional standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Establish, implement and maintain best practices in accounting and financial reporting by working with the management team to improve company policies, processes, infrastructure to accommodate successful growth. • Supervise day to day activities of accounting staff, including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Job and Equipment Costing. • Manage complex payroll with multiple unions in multiple states and internationally, including prevailing wage, OCIP/CCIP reporting, certified payrolls and multiple workers comp policies. • Directly oversee all project billings ensuring accurate and timely billing to clients. • Manage sales tax reporting in multiple states and internationally. • Monitor and record daily bank transactions. • Enter Adjusting Journal Entries to Maxwell Management Suite Accounting System. • Prepare Work in Progress schedule and record monthly revenue recognition. • Complete monthly general ledger account review and reconciliations. • Prepare monthly financial statements including cash flow, notes, ratios and trend analysis. • Maintain financial schedules including Fixed Asset and Sales Projections. • Assist in the development of department procedures. • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets. • Maintenance and analysis of company budgets and forecasts. • Project support for CFO. • Support Estimating and other departments as needed. • Plan and organize own work and projects. • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner. • Demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to problem solve independently as well as part of a team. • Maintain corporate financial records
Qualifications • Knowledgeable in accounting concepts, practices, processes and procedures • Knowledgeable in business law and tax codes • Knowledgeable in financial database design • Empowered to digest and disseminate detailed financial data • Skilled in advanced financial report writing • Oriented to provide excellent service throughout the organization • Collaborative in coordinating the activities of multiple people • Effective in coaching and developing peak performance • Exceptional writing ability
Education and Experience: • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, preferably Accounting • Five to seven years of construction financial database experience • Three to five years of accounting experience in the Construction Industry
