The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine is seeking an individual at the Associate Professor without tenure or Professor rank without tenure to serve as Chief Medical Officer of the Puget Sound Blood Center in Seattle WA. This individual will be responsible for the medical direction and support for all aspects of the Puget Sound Blood Center, including strategic policy formulation, establishment and review of standard medical and laboratory practices, maintaining compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies, and leading continuous quality improvement for a culture of quality and safety. The successful candidate will be an MD, MD/PhD, DO, or foreign equivalent, who is board-certified in Clinical Pathology with subspecialty certification in Blood Banking/Transfusion medicine. Previous leadership and management experience is highly desirable. This individual will also be expected to participate in the academic activities of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, including teaching post-graduate trainees, residents, medical students, and medical technology students. Applicants are also expected to carry out basic, translational, health- services, or educational research and scholarship as appropriate based on prior training and experience. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non- U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
