Help make a difference in the Harborview community! HMC Hospital Security is actively recruiting to fill several openings for full-time Campus Security Officers. The purpose of this position is to ensure a safe, secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors in a way that promotes the healing and teaching mission of HMC. Becoming a member of the Security Services team is an outstanding opportunity to help cultivate the relationship between security and the community. The team has a crucial role in maintaining a positive, caregiving and welcoming environment at the HMC campus in a manner that is consistent with UW Medicine Patients Are First Service Culture Guidelines. Campus Security Officers provide assistance and effective problem resolution for patients, staff, and visitors throughout the multiple departments of HMC, in both patient and non-patient areas. While modeling UW Medicine Service Culture Guidelines and utilizing excellent customer service skills, the responsibilities of a Campus Security Officer include oversight of the campus from a security perspective, response to emergencies, and enforcement of select policies.
General responsibilities and duties include:
-Oversight and inspection of assigned areas of HMC campus (on foot or by vehicle).
-Serve as a liaison and public relations representative with patients, visitors, and staff for matters related to security and public safety.
-Respond to calls for assistance and assist medical personnel.
-Obtainment of information and preparation of written reports.
-Coordination with medical professionals, police officers, firefighters, and senior management.
-Incident investigation and dispatch duties.
-Providing of information and accessible customer service assistance to the public.
-Maintenance of routine records.
-Checking and securing of doors for security reasons.
-Administering of first aid and response to calls for emergency aid.
-Reportage of maintenance concerns with buildings or grounds.
-Performing other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned. Posts and assignments may vary.

| High School graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver's license; no previous felony convictions; AND two years of full-time college in police science or allied field; OR two years of police or campus security experience. |

-Good interpersonal skills when dealing with potentially abusive/threatening people, while enforcing standard hospital regulations.
-Public contact and customer service experience.
-Work experience in a campus or medical center security environment.
-IAHSS (International Association of Healthcare Security & Safety) Certification.

Criminal background and extensive employment history check (including military service), personal and professional reference checks.
Candidates must satisfactorily complete an in-house IAHSS (International Association of Healthcare Security & Safety) basic and advance certifications, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Basic Life Support (BLS), Patient Restraints, Fire Extinguisher, Floor Warden, and Personal Protection Equipment, Defensive Tactics, Turtle Shield training, Powered Air Purifying Respirators, completion of Institutional competencies, performance evaluation, and successful completion of 6-month probationary period. Other training may be required by the department.
