About the Trust Advisor’s Role:
The primary roles of a trust advisor are as follows:
The administration and retention of trust and/or investment accounts through the utilization of current rules, regulations and Washington State trust law.
The further understanding, development and deepening of client relationships through fact-gathering meetings and teaming with other co-workers to provide solutions.
The generation of new client relationships through a combination of referrals from influencers, individuals known in the community and current clients, as well as meetings with prospective new clients strategically identified by the trust advisor.
Act as the primary point of contact for the office on administration and management of trust and investment relationships in their book of business.
Be an integral contributor to client relationship teams when appropriate.
Demonstrate a high level of, or willingness to learn, fiduciary and investment knowledge in regards to trust management and financial services.
Continually self-educate on financial markets, investments, trusts, tax concepts, tax strategies, and other fiduciary rules and regulations.
Initiate client retention calls to strengthen client relationships.
Actively develop a strategic plan, in conjunction with the goals of the office, to find new prospective clients and increase revenue.
Provide appropriate advice, counseling, and solutions to client’s inquiries and issues.
Work with other teammates to proactively meet client needs in a responsive, efficient manner.
Provide referrals to other areas of the Bank.
Participate in, or become a voting member of, one of the Baker Boyer Asset Management (BBAM) Division review committees.
Assume responsibility for the efficient administration of all assigned accounts maintaining standards as follows:
Understand and comply with standard department practices of risk management, regulatory requirements, general trust policies, and sufficiency of documentation.
Analyze and interpret (with the aid of counsel when appropriate) legal instruments to determine the duties and responsibilities of the Bank and risks associated there within.
Conferring on a timely basis with principals, wards, beneficiaries, and others regarding trust matters and determining necessary actions to ensure effective administration of those accounts.
Maintain knowledge of other services offered by DS Baker Advisors.
Maintain the required continuing education credits necessary on fiduciary, financial, estate planning, and investment topics.
Demonstrate a high level of bank product knowledge and client service skills based on completion of internal and approved external training programs.
Conduct financial reviews while listening to the client and team of advisors involved in the relationship in order to shape and plan for the client’s financial health.
Coordinate comprehensive financial planning for clients as needed.
Develop and maintain close relationships with team members and “Centers of Influence.”
Strategically participates in community activities and events for further business development.
Embrace the team advisory approach. Proactively build and maintain positive relationships with teammates.
Attend pre-planning and strategy meetings with the DS Baker Advisors and their support staff to identify client needs and cross-selling opportunities.
Educate and inform other team members by involving them in client meetings.
Proactively seek out information, resources, and expertise of internal and external subject matter experts when necessary.
Assure all team members are fully informed of all client interactions by documenting in Dynamics, the Bank’s client relationship management software.
Business Development: Meet or exceed annual sales and retention goals as established by management.

Counselor Approach: You take a professional, consultative approach with your clients and teams. You first seek to listen, understand, and then act; always putting the client or team before the individual or ego.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, preferably with a degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field. Four to six years in a client-facing service and sales role within the banking or finance industry where the primary responsibility was client retention and growth of client relationships. Experience and expertise in one or more areas of Asset Management. Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities to do the job. Preference of CTFA, CFP, or CPA designations, or JD degree.
